Bad doggie!

The past week, doggie has become uncontrollable towards me. I know everyone will jump with an explanation, but I really have none.

Spoiled? PMS-ing? Jealous? I don't know...

Evil doggie sample.

It seems that, when the three of us are in one room, she's an angel. She plays nicely, eats, sleeps, occasionally steals a slipper or sock. Some people would argue Aschiuta can't even bark. She's the friendliest doggie in the world and wouldn't bite anyone.

Except for me, of course. As soon as Scorp goes out of the house (which he has done every evening for the past week trying to get a business deal), the little angel turns into a little devil with sharp teeth and loud barks.

I'm sorry to say I can't really do anything about it and I've tried a lot of good advice.

I'm sure it's probably all my fault, and she's always been a bit insensible towards me but how could I fix things?

  1. for what it's worth, if a dog or cat has a change in behaviour like that, it is always best to take them to the vet for a check up. there are medical conditions that can cause irratic behaviour like that. best of luck!

  2. The problem is that she only goes mad when my fiance is away from home and she's alone with me.

  3. Do you usually give her something when Scorp leaves and this is her way of asking for it? The only thing I can think of is ignoring her until she calms down enough to listen and be friendly. I had to do that a lot with Brut when he would get bitey. For him it was always fear related. Sorry that's all I can think of for what worked for me. Hope that helps.

  4. Sage was going through a "canine adolescent agression" (yes, it's a real syndrome) a few weeks ago, so I purchased "Control Unleashed" to help with her focus, etc. There's a "look at it" game that seemed to have helped. You could "google" it and find out how it works. It might help.

  5. I read this earlier today but didn't have any suggestions so thought I would get on with my gardening and hoped an idea would present itself. I really don't know what to say. It seems really out of character for her! I am inclined to think you should discuss it with your vet or ask an animal behaviourist online. She knows you love her so it cannot be a fear or trust issue. It seems very strange for her to suddenly evidence this type of aggression towards you without any provocation. Has she recently had contact with another woman who may have teased or frightened her? I do hope you can resolve this soon, Lavi!!

  6. She has always been a bit indifferent of me and was very submissive towards Scorp, but lately it's been worse. Maybe it's because he's home most of the time now because he's out of work. She should also start her heat cycle next month.

The interesting thing is that she's normal the rest of the time, obeys orders and everything. I hope maybe this craziness weans when we get her spayed, hopefully soon.

  7. One thing I can say for certain is that she's just like me back at my parents' house, except that I didn't obey mom much regardless of the situation.

Thanks everyone for the advice! I'll do my best to find out what's wrong. Good thing she would fall asleep next to me so I can sneak out without waking her and get back to work.
